TAKING STOCK TODAY - PLANTING FOR TOMORROW

cjdprobert

I have been 'taking stock' in my newly established Cyclamen house - this morning I've planted ten pots of different seeds to germinate in the coming months: that means a 24 hour soak, then gritty compost covered in gravel, then kept in warm darkness into leaves start to show.

Most species are heading for dormancy now, but this Cyclamen purpurescens is looking good. It isn't frost hardy, but the flower colour is wonderful, while the 'Christmas Tree' pattern is clear on the leaves. Tucked away on a shady shelf in a greenhouse it offers a surprise bonus, filling the place with the scent of Lily of the Valley!
