SMALL SUMMER PLEASURES

For some years now an immense Rosa brunonii has cascaded down a bank in a sunny corner of our garden. Last year I spotted an interesting rose for another corner of the same bank, this time to scramble upwards! This new rose has take a while to take off, but we are now seeing the first few flowers on Rosa 'Taben Syorin Siro'.

This is a pretty little climber with fine shiny evergreen (in our garden!) leaves, with reddish buds opening to tiny pink backed peony-like creamy white flowers. This is a Japanese variety, a 'Wichuriana'-type, so once flowering.

It came from the amazing https://www.pepiniere-aoba.com/gb/ not far from Rennes. For those who know the UK nursery scene, Aoba is the French equivalent of 'Pan Global Plants' in terms of range and interest.. They do a fine stand at the autumn Plant Fair at Domfront - another good reason to visit!
